Library Mix Up

I’ve already acknowledged before that my sweetheart and I share different interests when it comes to music.  She enjoys her pop music and, well, I enjoy just about everything else.  Having said that, I also don’t mind picking up the odd CD from the library should it tickle her fancy, as was just such the case last week when she asked me to pick up a ‘Train’  CD for her.  Sure, what the heck.  We’re going to see them in concert this summer, so it’s probably best that I get a little familiar with their music anyway, right?

I dropped by after work and browsed the CD collection and found that they had one of their albums in stock so I checked it out and brought it home.  Am I swell or what?

However, when I got home and put the CD on it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting.  What emanated from the stereo was chalked full of those four letter type superlatives that you’d more expect to hear from a Celebrity Roast, not from a popular FM band.  It was all ‘ho’  this and ‘nigga’  that with just the right healthy smattering of bong references thrown in for good measure.  Completely family appropriate.

In short, it sucked, but then it hit me that this was not ‘Train’  at all but, rather, ‘T-Pain’; some rapper guy with more gold in his teeth than Jesse Owens had around his neck.

Allow me to illustrate the difference:

Train…Nicey-nice pop band.

T-Pain…gangsta extraordinaire.

TrainT-Pain…we’re only talking about a little squiggly here, right?  Easy mistake for a dyslexic!  At least, that’s my story and I’m sticking with it.  Besides, it’s the thought that counts, dear.  In the meantime, I hope you “love all that whack shit”.  I’m sure it’s totally ‘ghettolicious’, knowwhaImsayingee?

God help me.

Oh no! You didn’t just diss T-Pain did you? Not only does his old skool stuff rock for workouts (you gotta at least give his song Church a spin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFpsAfNvUkw), he’s also ON A BOAT! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avaSdC0QOUM)
